I saw this article in the local newspaper and thought it was a good opportunity to share what I know about climate change. Unfortunately the editor mistook my line
..temperatures peaked in 98'.
Ten Years ago, world temperatures peaked at 98 degrees.
I was supported by a local resident with my statements
The skeptics were then "slammed".
I wrote a letter of my own in response but it wasn't put into the newspaper
I am an anthropogenic climate change skeptic and I stand by my convictions. My research has been thorough and my sources are authentic.
I do agree that our current rate of polluting is effecting the environment but CO2 is not a pollutant. It is another life giving gas which humans only contribute 3% to the atmosphere.
Antarctica contains roughly 90% of the worlds ice and in recent years it has actually been expanding. The east side has been growing fast enough to offset the melting in the west. Last year the maximum thickness of the ice was 1.89m, its densest in 10 years.
The Bureau of Meteorology reports that over the past 50 years, annual mean rainfall has increased. The same has been for the past 100 years also. I quote from their website “The five year mean rainfall also shows a weak upward trend.”
The Carteret Atoll is located about 32 km east of an Oceanic Transform Fault and its inundation is most likely due to erosion and isostatic adjustments of the sea floor. Dynamite fishing around the atoll since the 70's has led to the degradation of its protective reefs which has increased the islands vulnerability to larger waves.
I recommend watching lectures by the Australian scientists, Prof Robert Carter and Prof Ian Plimer for more information.
Humans are not influencing the climate but we are certainly still trashing the planet. Lets focus on reducing the real pollutants. Not the stuff plants breath.

A local doctor also a wrote a response which seemed to cover what I was also trying to get across.
For every week in past 4 weeks there has been public debate about "global warming" in one of my local newspapers. I think writing into your local papers letter to the editor can be a great way of spreading climate change truth.
Its free for a start. Its just an email that will take you a moment of your time.
