The chinks are starting to appear in PM Kevin Rudd's armour and that's only going to become more apparent in the lead-up to Copenhagen.
I fully agree with Dale Stiller's recent forum post Action against ETS is working see here, and another from Peter Gough see here.
The widening dilemma over boat refugees is also exposing Rudd's dithering and loss of control, through the main stream media- as guests on the ABC Insiders program pointed out earlier this morning.
While he is becoming increasingly vulnerable, it would be a good idea to step up a letter campaign to newspapers exposing the hypocrisy, stupidity and dangers in the ETS and draft Copenhagen treaty. Many excellent posts have been made by agmates on these issues, but here we are largely "consenting adults". We need to get the message out to the cities and regions where there are still many who don't understand the ETS but think global warming is a problem and "something should be done about it".
The correspondents group has been doing a great job with several members having letters published in The Australian, Courier Mail and many regional and rural publications.
You can all play a part. Editors are looking for short, punchy letters with a message - they don't have to be packed with scientific fact or detailed links to the sources of information.
Personal abuse is out, humour or irony is good, as are questions to the PM, climate minister or your local MP, also to Malcolm Turnbull and other consenting Libs.
The metros like brief messages 100 to 150 words, the regionals are more generous but up to 300 words are more readily accepted. I have included some samples to the Gladstone Observer over the last week or two, including from Agmates Viv Forbes and Allan Taylor, who has achieved a total of about 15 letters published in many different newspapers.
I can assure you that the letters and opinion articles are among the best read sections of any newspapers, particularly by politicians and their minders. Get the messages out there, folks you can make a difference.
